Fortitude Valley Secondary College (FVSSC) was built as Queensland's first inner-city vertical school, opening its doors to Year 7 students in Term 1, 2020, after a significant investment by the Queensland Government on the site of the former Fortitude Valley State School.

Construction headed by Hutchinson Builders began with the main vertical school building and sports oval completed for the 2020 opening, followed by Stage 2, adding senior facilities in 2023.
